I am the worker,
sewing clothes that hangs in your closet.
The clothes you admire on your back.
Spending many hours guiding my machine,
to construct our flag.
I am the worker, who produces,
molten red-orange-hot liquid into steel.
Sweating with pride to create,
steel for our world’s structural needs.
I am the dockworker that toils,
to get national and international,
containers across this land.
Loading up trains,
and trucks to get products,
all points east,
west, north and south.
I am the medical professional,
who takes care of my patients.
Even during the pandemic,
saving people’s lives was first
priority.
I am the teacher,
who has dedicated my life,
to educating young minds.
Spending many hours after school,
making sure my lessons are correct.
Using my extra money for school supplies.
Always trying to be a mentor,
when no one else is around.
I am the worker, who shoulders side by side,
with my fellow workers.
In solidarity of fair wage and fair working conditions.
Giving the best of our abilities,
to provide for our country. (c) Mary Anne Abdo

This is a wonderful poem, Mary Anne. You’re right about the pandemic – it showed all these industries in each our countries, pulling together for the people. Everyone as always did their bit and some even more.
Thank you for sharing this with our colour challenge.

Sue, thank you very much for your kind words. We need to see that same spirit from those who govern us. Setting aside their differences and working together for the good of this world.
God bless those workers who, through the pandemic, went above and beyond the call of duty in order to help everyone out.
