A Framed Tribute Somewhere Near The Glen (In Memory of Glen Hansard)                                 I dreamed of you once last night sometime around 3am.                                        In a cathedral across the ocean as you promised to meet me at the crossroads of Broadway.                     And yet I waited.              You spoke of bells ringing in the streets of New York. And yet I heard a raucous tribute as the bells were ringing in your name.      You and Shane are reunited and full of wild legendary melodies.      And dancing monstrous jigs across Galway Bay into Dublin town.                     Like all good-bad boys music was your Irish compass.                Wandering and rambling just as the ancient Irish poets of lore.                  With a pint in your hand and soulful songs in your hearts.                                Slan agat, as my dreams bid me to write dangerous poetry for the lads and lasses to toast upon.            I hope all of your dreams came true.                           As you departed, beyond the vale of the Irish Sea   in a     hale.                           of glory.                                  © Mary Anne Abdo.  Footnote:  I remember blasting Glen’s music in my rented car, driving near Wexford town with my cousin Eileen. Check out Glen’s  performance of Fairytale of New York at Shane MacGowan’s funeral.

A Time Beyond LifeHorizons well off to the east.Facing your precious emerald Tir and Nog.Your earthly soul meeting your heavenly companion.Just beyond earth’s domain.Did the vale of light open up to long-lost family members?Did Saint Peter enjoy your joke along the Shannon River? Were you able to meet Thomas Edison?Does he know you played with his invention? What does electrified cities look like, from the Kingdom of the Clouds?I see you in the many hearts that drop to earth.I see you when reading poetry.I hear you beyond the grave, with audible words of encouragement.One-thousand four hundred and sixty days,of wondering about your beatific vision.(c) Mary Anne AbdoA poem in honor of my dad, Happy Father’s in heaven.(In the middle of editing my third book and this poem was next to edit. I had to share for all of the dads that are missed today and every day. Love you, Daddy).
