Puzzle Picture Poetry

Interconnecting words forming a bucolic scenery.

Dirty hands cleaning a garden’s last harvest.

Squirrels traversing from walnut to chestnut trees.

Shaking green gems to and fro,

dropping pending winter delights to the ground.

Cooler afternoons turning,

my front porch view into a puzzle picture canvas,

of variegated colors.

Bats and fireflies are waltzing around,

September’s harvest moon.

A reflection not to be missed,

on Solcum’s pond.

Cattails and corn stalks,

twined together with orange and gold ribbons.

Pumpkins and gourds—

Decoratively surround porches,

and pastoral mailboxes.

Never ending rows of autumn jewel toned mums.

Ready to complete that final puzzle piece,

of a landscaping dream.

Cornrows and corn mazes—

Children laughing and playing,

pretending to be scarecrows.

Covered in fresh cut straw.

An idyllic setting that interconnects our memories,

showing us of how life is simple and yet so vibrant.
