Navigation

It has been several weeks since I have posted anything. Trying to navigate the waters of self-publishing for my first chapbook. Researching the best option for my needs as a writer, and finding out new terms such as hybrid or vanity publishers. Money upfront my dear and maybe just maybe some profit. Watching so many informational videos about the publishing world and realizing that I needed to step up my game with updating my current Word Press account. I will be with Word Press one year on June 24th. It was time to revamp my site with better structure and content. I took the first steps this afternoon after another phone from a potential publisher who turned out to be a vanity publisher. Unfortunately, vanity publishers are those who want money upfront to look at your book and if accepted high monthly fees to do all of the leg work of your book. Then when you recoup your money, they start taking twenty percent or more of your royalties. Everything depends on how they choose to do business with their authors. Some people would say to give up and why bother with all of this hassle.

I say, ” Why not, anything that is of value it is certainly worth the effort?” As I sit here typing out this short blog piece and I stop to think of all of those great writers who came before us. With rejection letter after rejection letter, I am sure they wanted to give up. But I am glad they did not throw the pen down. For their marvelous stories inspire us to keep going. Their words of inspiration have changed many lives. So no matter where you are on this journey of creative expression. Positive words and images can change this world. Making us still believe there is a wondrous amount of hope and what a beautiful gift we can give to each other.
