Happy Easter

Nativity of Our Lord Church Scranton PA

Today was the last Easter mass for my home parish in Scranton. There are so many memories of this church, the oldest Catholic church in this area.  People will say oh it is just a building, and I get that.” But a building that sustained 155 years of spirituality in this city. As the priest reminded us today, “it might seem to be a sorrowful death. But it is  a resurrection of combined parish neighborhoods as one. Stating I see before me generations of good and faithful people. Who genuinely cares about each other and will hold each other as the door is finally closed on June 8th. The new chapter of our faith community will be written just like the passage from today’s gospel reading.”
