Lessons From A Storm

Did you ever have a daunting task that you have no choice in the matter?

December has brought my family many new realities of age.

With the continuation into January of a phone call no one wants to receive.

Since my mom’s trip to the emergency room and my aunt’s fall leading to a now long term care decision. To last night’s phone call of my Aunt Alice’s passing in Ireland, it has been a bittersweet Christmas season.  A holiday season this year filled with doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, paperwork and trying to resolve what this all means. Why does aging have to be so difficult?  Why do people have to suffer? Thinking back of all the good times you spent with your loved ones; when they were healthy. Thinking of all the lessons they shared with you, in  telling their life’s journey. All the resolutions you made to yourself to live by their examples.  Putting on that happy face for the sake of family, especially our granddaughter and friends. Resolving that it is God’s plan in the grand scheme of life.   We are all born to live our lives to the fullest, we are all going have trials in life and we will eventually return back to our creator.  It is like that poem “The Dash,” of how between birth and death, do we spend our lives. I always hope for the greater good of everyone around us, including ourselves.
