The Season of Warmth

Here are the days we long for during winter’s biting chill.

Early morning sunrises capturing the songbird’s attention.

Family meals grilled up and served on the patio glass table.

Full of laughter and stories after enjoying mom’s blueberry pie.

The expectations of upcoming summer events.

Church picnics and outdoor carnivals fill up calendar dates.

Smells of our local ethnic heritage are wafting through the neighborhoods.

Bingo games and basket raffles.

Meeting friends and neighbors reminiscing about the olde times.

Outdoor hikes that venture to the top of the world and make you wonder about nature’s beauty.

Fishing and boating to a favorite secret lake or stream.

Where tall tales originate of how the big one must have gotten way.

Following bike trails that used to lead gravity railroad cars transport coal to New York markets.

Swimming pools meticulously cleaned to hear children giggle, “Marco!!” “Polo!!”

As evening falls shooting stars are buzzing across the darkened night sky.

While outdoor fire pits illuminate the back yard.
